A professional dancer since over 30 years, Pilates Senior Master Instructor and the Creator of the BodyFly® Method, Patricia is a pioneer in the field of body movement. She is well known for her abundant experience and unstopped passion in body movement, a very focused teaching manner together with her high commitment to precision and quality. Patricia was the first person to bring Pilates to Bangkok citizens in 2001. In her renowned and very successful Studio “The Pilates Station”, she has helped thousands of people to condition their body, improve their posture and rehabilitate from injuries. Patricia received her degrees from School of Arts, Paris in 1983 and London Contemporary Dance School in 1986. After that, she was performing as a professional dancer in Paris and London, inter alia for Saddler’s Wells Dance Company and Karine Saporta. In 1991, Patricia had an accident and surgery on the knee had to be done. As a professional dancer, it was important to recover as fast as possible, but several weeks of conventional rehabilitation at the hospital did not lead to substantial results. At that moment, her dance company advised her to go see a person named Alan Herdman, who is an exponent of Joseph Pilates’ authentic technique and leading practitioner in the UK. Alan’s Pilates based rehabilitation program using apparatuses helped her to successfully recover from her injury in a short time. Patricia was inspired by the Pilates method, which brought her to attend one of the first certification courses of Romana’s Pilates program in Paris. The following two decades, Patricia spent to further expand her knowledge through continued education and various workshops, among them with Ron Fletcher (Pilates elder), Eric Franklin and Portia Page. In addition to her certification from Romana’s classical Pilates, Patricia also certified fully from all the courses with the contemporary STOTT method. In 2001, Patricia was the first person to introduce Pilates classes in Bangkok. Two years later, she opened Bangkok’s first Pilates facility, the “Pilates & Dance Studio”. The studio gained outstanding reputation in short time and soon after, it had to be moved to a bigger location named “The Pilates Station”. Between 2006 and 2011, Patricia hosted Bangkok’s first STOTT Pilates Instructor Trainings at the Pilates Station. In 2009, Patricia was inspired to create a new exercise method that she called YogaFly, combining Aerial Dance, Pilates and Yoga. The new discipline was quickly met with passionate enthusiasm and many people asked to be trained as instructors. In order to meet this demand, Patricia created a unique training curriculum for “aerial yoga” called BodyFly® and she founded the Body Fly International Academy®, enabling people from all over the world to learn this method through its educational program. After more than 30 years of experience working with thousands of clients, their postures and pathologies, Patricia felt it was time to pass on her knowledge and passion to a new generation of instructors. To assimilate this idea, Patricia gathered a team of experts to found the Swiss Pilates Institute in 2012. The SPI’s purpose is to make instructor training more accessible for the public and to promote outstanding instructors. Patricia has provided major contributions to define SPI’s teaching philosophy based on Care, Skill and Precision, which she believes are the keys in taking students from good foundation to excellency.
